Due to a slight concern with her foot, Emma Raducanu has withdrawn from a pair of exhibition contests scheduled for next month in the United States.
The top-ranked British player is experiencing some minor bone contusions in her right foot. However, she is still capable of training and anticipates traveling to Barcelona shortly for a pre-season training period.
Francisco Roig, who started coaching Raducanu in August, will oversee the preparations for the upcoming season in Spain.
Raducanu, 23, has been training at the National Tennis Centre in London for a portion of this month. Now, she will be able to dedicate her full attention to the training camp abroad.
Avoiding participation in the two exhibition matches almost a month before the new season commences is a measure to alleviate stress on her foot.
Raducanu has also enlisted a new physiotherapist, Emma Stewart, who previously served with the WTA Tour before transitioning to the men’s team at British Rowing.
Stewart will be present at select tournaments next year and, for the time being, will also be responsible for Raducanu’s strength and conditioning regimen.
