Fabricio Andrade vows 2026 belt reclaim from Enkh-Orgil Baartarkhuu, calling him his “toughest opponent.”

Fabricio Andrade departed Bangkok without his championship title. However, he left holding profound admiration for the individual who claimed it.

Enkh-Orgil Baatarkhuu secured a submission victory over the Brazilian via rear-naked choke during the fourth round at ONE Fight Night 38 on December 5, held within Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand. This defeat marked the end of Andrade’s perfect streak in ONE Championship MMA and established Mongolia’s second global champion in the sport.

The loss was painful. However, encountering a formidable opponent like Baatarkhuu made it more bearable. Andrade had consistently regarded the 36-year-old contender with seriousness before their headline bout, recognizing the Mongolian’s impressive background and formidable abilities.

What truly astonished him was the extraordinary toughness exhibited by his rival. Andrade knocked Baatarkhuu down early in the initial round. The fighter from Tiger Muay Thai had established his reputation through potent knockout capabilities, having decisively defeated John Lineker and achieved a rapid 42-second knockout against Kwon Won Il.

“I was aware he would be an incredibly challenging adversary, yet it was quite astonishing to witness his capacity for recovery,” he stated. “He is an exceptionally resilient individual and a truly outstanding competitor.”

Fabricio Andrade concedes that his overzealousness led to the loss of his title

The Brazilian was convinced he was on the verge of another spectacular win after knocking down the Mongolian early. This conviction, however, proved to be his downfall. His intense desire to secure the stoppage created vulnerabilities that Baatarkhuu capitalized on with persistent grappling and dominant ground pressure.

“Usually, when I connect, my opponents are incapacitated and don’t recover,” he remarked. “I felt compelled to conclude the bout, which caused me to act somewhat impulsively.”

As the championship rounds progressed, the dynamic of the fight had entirely transformed. The contender took command and completed his objective. Nevertheless, even in losing, Andrade chooses not to diminish Baatarkhuu’s triumphant occasion.

“Enkh is a remarkable individual. He possesses a noble character,” he declared. “He stands as the most formidable opponent I have ever faced and the most resilient I have ever witnessed.”

Andrade acknowledges that numerous individuals underestimated Baatarkhuu leading up to their world championship encounter. Discussions had already begun to focus on possible future adversaries. Yet, the erstwhile champion never committed that error. He now views this defeat as a catalyst for personal development as he looks toward 2026.

“Adversities solely serve to fortify us,” he stated. “I am compelled to develop, to ready myself for improvement, and to return with greater power.”
