Jeff Hafley is drawing interest from several NFL organizations looking for a new leader, but reports indicate that one particular team is already focusing on the Green Bay Packers’ defensive coordinator.
Hafley, 46, has emerged as a prime candidate for the Miami Dolphins’ top coaching position, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, who reported on Saturday that he learned the former Boston College head coach “made a tremendous impression during his initial virtual meeting with the Dolphins.”
It is also significant that Miami recently brought in former Packers executive Jon-Eric Sullivan as its new general manager earlier this month. Hafley became part of Green Bay’s coaching staff in 2024, and he previously collaborated with Sullivan for the past two seasons while Sullivan held the role of the Packers’ vice president of player personnel.
Pelissero noted in his Saturday dispatch, however, that the Dolphins have not yet reached a final determination, and they have more interviews planned, including one scheduled for Sunday with Buffalo Bills offensive coordinator Joe Brady.
Moreover, Miami faces competition for Hafley’s services. Four other clubs—the Tennessee Titans, Atlanta Falcons, Las Vegas Raiders, and Arizona Cardinals—have all requested follow-up interviews with Hafley, and he is set to interview for the Pittsburgh Steelers’ head coaching vacancy on Saturday, per Pelissero.
Before joining Matt LaFleur’s staff with the Packers, Hafley compiled a 22-26 record as Boston College’s head coach from 2020 to 2023.
