Former Dolphins HC Mike McDaniel Named Chargers OC

Sources indicate that Mike McDaniel, the recently dismissed head coach of the Miami Dolphins, has informed various organizations that they are no longer under consideration, with the Los Angeles Chargers emerging as the sole focus. It is understood that McDaniel is slated to take on the role of the Chargers’ offensive coordinator.

As conveyed through (X), NFL Insider Adam Schefter, alongside Jeff Darlington, has stated that the former Dolphins head coach, Mike McDaniel, is anticipated to assume the offensive coordinator position for the Chargers, unless there’s a last-minute change of plans. McDaniel has reportedly communicated to other interested teams that they are no longer in contention, while the Chargers have expressed a clear desire for his services, with a meeting scheduled for this evening. The prevailing sentiment throughout the league is that McDaniel will indeed remain in Los Angeles.

At 42 years of age, McDaniel’s tenure with the Dolphins concluded with his dismissal, having accumulated a 33-35 record over four seasons as head coach, which included guiding the team to the postseason on two occasions.

Various reports had previously suggested that both the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Philadelphia Eagles had shown interest in McDaniel for comparable coaching capacities. The formalization of this arrangement is anticipated within the next few days.
