Kartal exits Abu Dhabi after 10 straight losses.

Sonay Kartal, Britain’s second-ranked player, suffered a loss in the Abu Dhabi Open quarter-finals to Sara Bejlek, enduring a 6-0, 6-2 defeat after surrendering ten consecutive games.

Kartal conceded the opening set in just 22 minutes and was unable to secure a hold on her serve until her sixth service game.

After finally scoring a game in the middle of the second set, she broke the Czech player’s serve to narrow the score to 4-2, but her own serve was immediately broken in response.

Bejlek, who holds a ranking 40 positions lower than the world number 61 Kartal, sealed her win by converting her first match point at the Zayed Sports City International Tennis Centre.
