Boulter playfully remarked, “And this occurred during your birthday week. A truly significant week for you, marking 53 years, a major milestone, so consider it your gift to yourself.”
“I hope our collaborative efforts can continue extensively.”
This championship achievement contrasted with her fellow British player, Emma Raducanu, who suffered a decisive defeat against Romania’s Sorana Cirstea in the Transylvania Open final.
Boulter has only been defeated in one of her five WTA final appearances, and her victory in Ostrava now joins her two Nottingham titles (from 2023 and 2024) and her San Diego success from two years prior.
Despite dropping three consecutive games, leading to the loss of the opening set, and then the first game of the second, Boulter managed to recover her focus and push the match to a decisive set.
From that point, she demonstrated complete control, breaking the 30-year-old Korpatsch’s serve three times en route to securing her first trophy in nearly 15 months.
“To my unwavering team, my entire family back home… Everyone dear to me understands the difficulties I’ve encountered over this past year,” Boulter added.
“Today renders it all worthwhile.”
