The future for UFC lightweight Arman Tsarukyan in the octagon appears highly promising following recent discussions he held with UFC matchmakers.
Leading UFC lightweight contender Arman Tsarukyan’s upcoming competitive path could be more defined as the promotion prepares for its significant BMF championship bout this weekend.
This weekend at UFC 326, Max Holloway and Charles Oliveira are set to engage in a much-anticipated second encounter. Holloway, who currently holds the UFC’s BMF championship, will have the opportunity to defend his title and significantly bolster his claim for a challenge at the undisputed lightweight championship.
Tsarukyan plans to be ringside at UFC 326, observing his past opponent, Oliveira, compete against Holloway for the BMF championship. Holloway successfully retained this title last year at UFC 318, triumphing over Dustin Poirier through a unanimous decision.
Ever since his submission victory over Dan Hooker at UFC Qatar last year, Tsarukyan has remained inactive, anticipating another possible opportunity for the undisputed lightweight championship. A pre-fight headbutt incident involving Hooker, coupled with his eleventh-hour withdrawal from UFC 311 last year, prompted UFC CEO Dana White and the fight organizers to delay Tsarukyan’s aspirations.
However, following recent discussions involving the UFC and Tsarukyan, it appears we might be nearing a significant revelation concerning the lightweight’s subsequent bout.
Arman Tsarukyan: UFC expresses interest in BMF and Lightweight championship contests for me in 2026
During a recent discussion on The Ariel Helwani Show, Tsarukyan shared positive updates he received from matchmaker Hunter Campbell concerning his upcoming career in the sport.
“There are several possibilities. Championship matches, other contests; we will observe how events unfold,” Tsarukyan stated.
“Weight classes 170, 145, 155. The most compelling prospect is vying for the lightweight championship in either September or October, following Justin [Gaethje]’s involvement. I was informed about challenging the victor of Charles and Max. What about Volk? Volk is also a strong possibility. They conveyed their enthusiasm.
“Productive discussions. My relationship with Hunter has consistently been positive, and they advised me to ‘Continue your current trajectory,’ which is encouraging.”
Based on the outcome of this weekend’s UFC 326 event, it wouldn’t be unexpected if Tsarukyan steps into the octagon for a post-bout confrontation with the winner of the BMF title.
