Shai Gilgeous-Alexander continues his historic run.
The prominent player for the Oklahoma City Thunder achieved his 126th consecutive outing scoring a minimum of 20 points, thereby matching Wilt Chamberlain for a less commonly known NBA achievement on Monday evening at the Paycom Center.
Gilgeous-Alexander secured this milestone by sinking a three-point shot in the third quarter during their 129-126 victory against the Denver Nuggets, bringing his point total for the match to 20, 21, and 22.
However, it was Gilgeous-Alexander’s actions in the game’s concluding moments that truly captivated observers.
The competing squads were engaged in a fierce contest throughout the final quarter, and it appeared Gilgeous-Alexander had secured victory with a three-point shot from the arc with only 13.6 seconds remaining. This extended the Thunder’s lead to four points.
Yet, Nikola Jokić responded with his own three-point conversion, and Jamal Murray converted one free throw after being fouled by Jaylin Williams during Jokic’s score, thus completing an unusual four-point sequence. Instantly, the scores were level.

Gilgeous-Alexander has sustained an average exceeding 30 points per game over his past four seasons with Oklahoma City and was the league’s top scorer during his 2024-25 MVP season, with an average of 32.7 points per game.
Chamberlain established the benchmark for consecutive 20-point games between the 1961 and 1963 seasons, during his tenure with what is now the Golden State Warriors. In that period, the Warriors relocated from Philadelphia to San Francisco, yet Chamberlain consistently maintained a scoring output of 20 or more points per contest.
The Thunder are scheduled to face the Boston Celtics on their home court this Thursday, indicating Gilgeous-Alexander will only have to wait a brief period to attempt surpassing Chamberlain’s achievement.
