Justin Rose, Tommy Fleetwood, LA Golf Club Win TGL Title Over Tiger Woods’ Jupiter Links

Los Angeles Golf Club cemented its status as a premier team, triumphing over Jupiter Links Golf Club to secure the league championship title for the second TGL season. Competing at the SoFi Center in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, LAGC clinched the best-of-three series by first winning 6-5 on Monday, then dominating Jupiter Links with a decisive 9-2 victory on Tuesday, claiming the overall seasonal honor.

Jupiter Links had previously featured Max Homa, Tom Kim, and Kevin Kisner in their initial match. However, for Match 2, they brought in their captain, Tiger Woods, who was making his return to competitive play after several months, aiming to build momentum in anticipation of the 2026 Masters.

Despite his much-anticipated return, Tiger, in his season debut, couldn’t summon his characteristic brilliance. A key moment, unfortunately for his team, was a missed putt from just over three feet, which ignited Los Angeles’ surge toward the championship.

“We got our ass kicked at the end. … We didn’t respond,” Woods said. “I missed a short one at the beginning to give them momentum, and we never got it back.”

In contrast, Los Angeles retained its consistent roster for both contests, fielding Tommy Fleetwood, Justin Rose, and Sahith Theegala. This formidable threesome started their match with four consecutive pars, which initially placed them two points adrift.

Justin Rose acknowledged Fleetwood’s calming influence, noting that he reassured the team they hadn’t erred despite trailing early. Subsequently, LAGC’s performance became virtually flawless.

At the sixth hole, known as Stinger, both Fleetwood and Woods successfully landed their drives on the fairway. Los Angeles chose to deploy a hammer after Rose placed his wedge shot within six and a half feet of the pin. Homa’s subsequent shot didn’t meet the mark, allowing Theegala to capitalize and instantly level the score.

From that point, their advantage grew relentlessly. Woods’ failure to convert a short putt on the seventh hole handed Los Angeles their initial lead in the contest. This lead was extended further on the ensuing hole, a brief par-4 eighth, where Theegala’s drive positioned Fleetwood perfectly for an 11-foot eagle conversion.

After swiftly turning a 0-2 deficit into a 4-2 advantage, Los Angeles maintained aggressive play through the concluding hole of the triples format. A wayward drive by Fleetwood left Los Angeles in a challenging spot off the tee, obliging them to accept a hammer from Jupiter, a decision that ultimately proved beneficial.

Homa executed a 3-iron shot from 230 yards, landing it within 14 feet, which presented Jupiter with an opportunity for an eagle. Rose countered this by hitting a 6-iron from the fairway bunker to a comparable distance. Kim, putting first, failed to sink his shot and apply pressure, while Theegala’s putt was flawless, securing a commanding 6-2 lead for his team entering the singles matches.

Jupiter, retaining two hammers, opted for an assertive strategy on the opening singles hole by deploying one directly from the tee, compelling Los Angeles to accept the challenge. Justin Rose and Max Homa then faced each other on the par-5 tenth, where Rose gained an immediate advantage by landing his drive squarely on the fairway.

Rose, the English player, subsequently hit a 5-wood from 255 yards, placing it within five feet of the hole, whereas Homa’s third shot landed fourteen feet away. Los Angeles then utilized their hammer, and after Homa’s attempt at a birdie narrowly missed, the eagle, three points, and the entire championship were decisively yielded to the victorious team hailing from Los Angeles.
