Sidney Crosby suffers lower-body injury, exits Penguins’ win.

OTTAWA, Ontario — The captain for the Penguins, Sidney Crosby, departed Thursday’s evening match against the Senators during the second period due to a lower-body ailment, only about seven days following his return from a similar lower-body issue sustained while competing for Team Canada at the Olympics.

Crosby participated in an initial 38-second sequence of play during the second period prior to exiting through the passageway to the changing area. He had similarly gone through the passageway after his concluding shift of the opening period, seemingly having entangled his left limb during an impact.

The Penguins’ organization subsequently declared that he would not rejoin the contest, and coach Dan Muse later stated that he possessed no new information regarding Crosby’s current state.

Crosby concluded his participation with a single shot on target across nine shifts during Pittsburgh’s 4-3 victory via shootout against the Senators.

The 38-year-old pivot was absent for eleven matches with the Penguins following an injury he sustained in an Olympic quarterfinal fixture on February 18th. Crosby made his comeback to play in Carolina on March 18th, contributing a goal and one assist, and he registered an assist in each of Pittsburgh’s preceding three outings. He currently tops the squad with 28 scores and 64 total points accumulated over 61 appearances.
