Ronda Rousey doubles down on UFC criticism, slamming MMA’s ‘crossroads’.

UFC Hall of Famer Ronda Rousey reiterated her strong opinions regarding her previous organization leading up to her return to Mixed Martial Arts.

Ronda Rousey is mere weeks from participating in her inaugural Mixed Martial Arts bout in a decade, as she gears up to contend against women’s MMA trailblazer Gina Carano in a Most Valuable Promotions main event. This confrontation will signify Rousey’s initial combat appearance since incurring consecutive defeats to Holly Holm and Amanda Nunes within the UFC Octagon.

Rousey’s standing in Mixed Martial Arts is firmly established prior to the highly anticipated contest. Nevertheless, Rousey’s association with her former promotion has become ambiguous in recent weeks, evident through her latest declarations.

Rousey has consistently provoked the UFC in recent times, particularly in advance of the promotion’s fight card held at the White House. The ex-UFC women’s bantamweight champion has repeatedly denounced UFC competitor compensation and directed personal criticisms toward matchmaker Hunter Campbell.

Despite Rousey garnering significant attention from the media during the initial Carano fight press conference, she has shown no signs of abating her critique of the UFC.

Ronda Rousey expresses concern that Mixed Martial Arts faces a pivotal moment due to the UFC’s influence

In a recently published video on her YouTube channel, Rousey intensified her ongoing disagreement with the UFC leadership.

“I perceive that the sport is at a critical juncture, and this marks the commencement of a significant transformation that has been long overdue,” Rousey conveyed.

“I was serious when I asserted that the UFC is suffering from a lack of rivalry. They have grown overly comfortable as the dominant power in the sector, simply presenting fighters with proposals that imply, ‘Accept it or decline it, what other options do you have?’ It was once true that the UFC offered the premier opportunity for earning money in combat sports. Now, it is evolving into the least lucrative environment for combat sports earnings. It began as an anti-establishment entity, and now it has become the establishment itself…”

“To be clear, I have always been loyal to the company and deeply appreciative during my tenure there, but I believe that since Dana’s oversight diminished, they have truly strayed from their path,” Rousey further stated. “They presume they are impervious to failure, capable of continuously disappointing fans, and indifferent to the number of casual followers they alienate.” (information sourced via MMA Fighting)

As of the time of this publication, UFC CEO Dana White has not yet issued a reply to Rousey’s public assertions concerning the organization. Rousey was inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame in 2018.
