Tennessee-ECU 14-Inning Baseball Breakdown

The University of Tennessee’s baseball team, holding a 38-21 record, commenced its participation in the NCAA Tournament as the second seed in the Chapel Hill Regional. The first game took place on Friday at Boshamer Stadium in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.

East Carolina, seeded third with a 37-22-1 record, secured a 7-3 victory over the Volunteers after 14 innings of play. A crowd of 3,781 spectators witnessed the extended game, which spanned a total of four hours and 31 minutes.

A total of twenty athletes represented Tennessee on the field during the match, with five of them serving as pitchers.

Evan Blanco began the game on the mound for Tennessee, completing seven innings. He recorded four strikeouts while throwing 97 pitches, 65 of which were strikes, facing 26 opposing batters. Blanco conceded seven hits and was responsible for one earned run.

Following Blanco, Brandon Arvidson took over pitching duties, completing 1.1 innings and facing eight batters. His outing comprised 27 pitches (12 strikes) and no strikeouts. Arvidson permitted one earned run, a single hit (which was a home run), issued two walks, and hit one batter.

Bo Rhudy then came in from the bullpen, pitching four innings, accumulating 52 pitches (39 strikes) while facing 17 batters. He tallied four strikeouts, giving up three hits (including two doubles), one earned run, and one walk.
