Cardinals QB Jacoby Brissett to report to minicamp this week after holdout.

Speculation suggests Jacoby Brissett’s work stoppage has concluded.

Per ESPN’s Josh Weinfuss and Jeremy Fowler, the Arizona Cardinals’ signal-caller is expected to attend the mandatory minicamp scheduled for this week. This development follows Brissett’s absence from all prior offseason activities as he sought a revised agreement.

Brissett was absent from both initial stages of the team’s offseason regimen and also bypassed all three organized team activities. Failure to appear at this week’s mandatory minicamp would have subjected him to potential penalties amounting to $107,911.

During his tenth professional season last year, Brissett achieved a personal best with 3,366 passing yards, alongside 23 touchdown throws and eight interceptions. He commenced 12 contests for the Cardinals, stepping in for the sidelined Kyler Murray. The franchise posted a 3-14 record, failing to reach the postseason for the fourth consecutive year.

The Cardinals have subsequently parted ways with Murray, who secured a single-year agreement with the Minnesota Vikings. Reports indicate the Vikings will compensate Murray at the league minimum for veterans, while the Cardinals are set to cover the majority of Murray’s $36.8 million salary for the upcoming season.

Following what has been his most productive season thus far, Brissett is reportedly seeking compensation reflective of a bona fide starting quarterback in the NFL. His current arrangement for the next season includes a base salary of $4.88 million, with $1.5 million guaranteed. Brissett is expected to begin training camp as the team’s anticipated starter, alongside Gardner Minshew, Kedon Slovis, and Carson Beck, a third-round draft pick from Miami. Minshew was acquired by the Cardinals via free agency in March, receiving over $5 million in guaranteed funds.

The timeline for when, or even if, a new agreement will be reached between the two parties prior to the commencement of the new season remains uncertain, although it’s improbable to finalize before Tuesday’s scheduled workouts. ESPN reported that the two factions were “substantially” distant in their discussions last month, yet the precise extent of those differences is not fully known.

Despite the ongoing wait for a revised contract, Brissett is resuming his duties with the Arizona squad.
