Due to an ongoing recovery from a wrist injury, Carlos Alcaraz has pulled out of the Cincinnati Open.
Ranked second in the world, the Spanish player has been sidelined since withdrawing from April’s Barcelona Open, a layoff that forced him to sit out Wimbledon and prevented him from defending his French Open crown.
Following his championship victory in 2025, the Spaniard was slated to make his comeback at the Cincinnati Open to warm up for his upcoming title defense at the US Open, scheduled to start on 30 August.
However, tournament officials for the Ohio-based competition—slated to begin on 11 August—announced that a persistent wrist issue will keep the 23-year-old from competing.
“We are certain that Carlos is putting in every effort to return to competitive play at the earliest opportunity,” remarked tournament director Bob Moran.
“Our thoughts are with him for a swift rehabilitation, and we eagerly await his return to Cincinnati in the coming years.”
