Introduced in 2026, LEC Versus served as a winter event that integrated a pair of Tier 2 EMEA Regional League rosters with the ten franchised LEC teams, representing the first occasion ERL squads clashed with top-tier LEC opponents since 2019. According to Bykov, there are no current plans to establish an alternative ERL path into the LEC for 2027, with the commissioner highlighting third-party coordinators who are building up the Tier 2 scene on their own, such as the recently unveiled World Star Challengers Invitational (WSCI).
