Mavericks standout Cooper Flagg exited the game against the Indiana Pacers, which ended with a score of 121-105 in favor of Dallas, during the second quarter on Friday. He did not return due to “left shoulder soreness.”
Flagg sustained the injury after enduring a hard foul from Pacers forward Aaron Nesmith, who appeared to connect with Flagg at the back of his head, causing the Mavericks forward to fall awkwardly.
The incident led to a heated confrontation between Nesmith and Mavericks forward Naji Marshall, necessitating the intervention of teammates to separate them.
Nesmith received a flagrant foul for the contact, while both he and Marshall were assessed technical fouls due to the altercation.
Flagg successfully converted both free throws that were awarded following Nesmith’s flagrant foul, which took place in the last minute of the half. He was substituted shortly after and proceeded to the locker room before the halftime break, visibly grabbing at his left shoulder.
When he left the game, Flagg had accumulated 14 points for the Mavericks in just 17 minutes of action.
