Chelsea just experienced a rather disappointing first half in the EFL Cup against Liverpool at Anfield, and things deteriorated just before half-time when Maxence Lacroix went down clutching his hamstring.
The defender was ultimately substituted and gingerly made his way around the pitch. It seems quite serious – by just observing him, it appears he may be sidelined for at least a month.
Levi Colwill has entered the game to take his place, and he seems poised for a substantial workload.

If Lacroix is unavailable for an extended period, it would lead to Fofana reclaiming his position as a first-team player. This should also ensure more opportunities for Josh Acheampong, who has recently played in place of Fofana in the Premier League.
He stands to benefit significantly from this situation. Additionally, Aaron Anselmino – if he is ever able to return to fitness – may also climb the ranks and find himself on the bench with a chance for some playtime should Lacroix be out for an extended duration.

This evening, one individual we have yet to see is Estevao, who many anticipated would be starting. His absence is not a promising sign for him.
Estevao not being present is not the only noteworthy aspect regarding the team that Xabi Alonso has put together for tonight’s match; you can observe it here.
Joao Pedro is unavailable this evening, leading to speculation about Chelsea’s interest in acquiring a new backup for him.
