Myles Garrett on Track to Return This Week Against Commanders

Myles Garrett is set to be activated from injured reserve and is anticipated to make his return this weekend for the Los Angeles Rams, as stated by head coach Sean McVay on Friday.

Garrett, who was acquired from the Cleveland Browns back in June, participated in the Rams’ season opener, but has been sidelined since then due to arthroscopic knee surgery he underwent in mid-September. Following the Week 1 defeat to the San Francisco 49ers, the pass rusher indicated that he was not at his full health after missing a significant portion of training camp due to knee concerns.

After two days of limited participation in practice, Garrett is expected to suit up on Sunday when the Rams play against the Washington Commanders, assuming there are no complications. The team had opened up his 21-day practice window earlier this week.

“He’s looking good, looking fast,” Rams defensive tackle Aaron Donald commented regarding Garrett.

“[We’re] getting to work with him in full pads and playing off each other. It looked pretty good today, so I’m really looking forward to having him here, having him back, and seeing what we accomplish on Sunday.”

As Garrett rejoined his Rams teammates in practice leading up to Week 9, the team was not prepared to establish a timeline for his return to game action. Head coach Sean McVay expressed that he did not wish to set expectations for the two-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year being close to a return. It was crucial to monitor how his knee reacted to practice before he could advance further in his recovery journey.

Entering Week 9, the Rams (4-4) have secured two consecutive victories and are tied for second place in the NFC West.

Following their game at the Commanders this weekend, the Rams will face the Arizona Cardinals before heading into their bye week in Week 11.
