Basketball World Reacts to WNBA’s Stephanie White Announcement

Over the past month, the Indiana Fever have emerged as one of the WNBA’s most dominant squads, currently boasting a 19-11 record and leading the Eastern Conference standings just before their highly awaited Thursday evening clash against the Las Vegas Aces.

In addition to honoring experienced guard Kelsey Mitchell as the Eastern Conference Player of the Month, the WNBA handed out accolades to the Fever’s head coach, Stephanie White.

On Wednesday, the league made public that White had secured the Coach of the Month award.

White’s Executive Performance in July

Indiana put together an impressive 8-2 run throughout July, and despite falling to the Minnesota Lynx this past Sunday, they had heading into that game won five consecutive matchups starting prior to the All-Star festivities.

“Coach of the month. After guiding the Fever to an exceptional 8-2 showing during July, Stephanie White has been named your WNBA Coach of the Month!” stated the official WNBA announcement.

Hoops Community Responds to the Announcement

The WNBA’s choice to celebrate the Fever’s head coach was met with some skepticism online. Numerous supporters felt that Cheryl Reeve was more deserving of the title, pointing to her efforts in guiding the Lynx through a 10-game unbeaten run and securing the top record in the league.

“Wait a minute, so a coach who recorded a 9-2 run (bouncing back with nine consecutive victories after dropping two) in July somehow missed out on Coach of the Month?! This league constantly trips over itself,” a supporter expressed.

“No CHERYL?!!! Or even Becky?!! They definitely have a narrative to push,” a different user remarked.

“Under what circumstances is she named Coach of the Month?” questioned another observer.

“Might as well award the entire roster at this rate lol. Giving the Fever everything this month is wild lol,” an individual posted.

“A simple congratulations is all I can offer. I was raised to keep quiet if I didn’t have something positive to share,” wrote another follower.
