While fortune favors the skilled, possessing both luck and talent is the ultimate advantage. During Thursday’s matchup at Truist Park in Atlanta, Braves standout Ronald Acuña Jr. proved to have both in spades as he launched a two-run shot against the Marlins (GameTracker).
After Acuña connected for a deep drive, center fielder Esteury Ruiz and left fielder Heriberto Hernandez collided in the outfield, accidentally tipping the ball over the fence.

This blast marked Acuña’s third round-tripper in ten matchups since coming back from his recent hamstring recovery. Over his initial nine appearances back, he struggled slightly, batting .176 (6-for-34) with two home runs and a dozen strikeouts. Though his plate rhythm is still adjusting post-injury, he is steadily regaining his form.
Atlanta currently stands as one of the most dominant squads in the majors, trailing only Boston in momentum. With seven consecutive victories and wins in 15 of their previous 20 matchups, they have extended their NL East cushion over Philadelphia to 8.5 games—a lead that had shrunk to a mere two games back on July 18.
The Braves currently hold a narrow half-game lead over the Dodgers for the second seed in the National League, putting them in position for a first-round postseason bye.
