Emma Raducanu plans to make her comeback to the WTA Tour at the Strasbourg tournament in a fortnight, having pulled out of the Italian Open due to medical reasons.
Nevertheless, the top British tennis player depends on receiving a wildcard, as she failed to meet the official entry deadline.
At 23 years old, Raducanu was granted a special invitation to last year’s WTA 500 competition, where she overcame Daria Kasatkina, a player ranked among the top 20 globally, before her eventual loss to American Danielle Collins.
The organizers of the event, which is set to begin on May 17th, have not yet announced if they will issue a wildcard.
