After getting back together, the triple US Open men’s doubles titleholders Joe Salisbury and Rajeev Ram defeated the defending champions Marcel Granollers and Horacio Zeballos to secure their spot in the semi-finals.
Representing Great Britain, Salisbury partnered with the USA’s Ram to capture consecutive New York trophies from 2021 through 2023; however, the duo parted ways in 2024 before reforming their partnership for this season.
They secured a straight-sets 6-4 6-4 victory over the number two seeds, setting up a Thursday clash against German pair Kevin Krawietz and Tim Putz, who finished as runners-up in 2024.
On the opposite side of the bracket, the British-Finnish tandem of Henry Patten and Harri Heliovaara fended off three match points during their hard-fought 6-7 (7-9) 7-6 (7-3) 6-2 win against seventh-seeded Manuel Guinard and Guido Andreozzi.
The reigning Wimbledon victors and number-one seeds, Patten and Heliovaara, missed out on four opportunities to win the first set and were forced to survive match points in the following set.
Up next for them are Great Britain’s Neal Skupski and America’s Christian Harrison, who cruised to a 6-3 6-2 victory against Simone Bolelli and Andrea Vavassori in the final quarter-final match.
Over in the women’s draw, Czech player Katerina Siniakova and her American partner Taylor Townsend, the top-seeded duo, stand just one win away from completing a career Grand Slam together following their 6-0 7-6 (10-8) defeat of Diana Shnaider and Elise Mertens.
They are set to face the American pairing of Robin Montgomery and Ashlyn Krueger in Friday’s championship match, after the latter duo remarkably recovered from an 8-2 deficit in the deciding tie-break and saved three match points to overcome second seeds Luisa Stefani and Gabriella Dabrowski 4-6 6-4 7-6 (10-8).
