This is an unprecedented year for financial rewards at the US Open tournament.
The overall financial pool allocated for competitors reaches $108m (£80m), a 20% surge from the 2025 competition—positioning it as both the biggest US Open payout ever and the most lucrative purse in the history of Grand Slam tennis.
By contrast, this year’s tournament at Wimbledon featured a total reward purse of £64.2m.
From this total pool, $2m (£1.47m) is set aside for a ‘player assistance initiative’ following demands from competitors regarding athlete wellness across major tournaments. According to US Open organizers, this scheme is “intended to supplement current post-career retirement funds” and “will offer diverse advantages for professional transitions and major life events during active years.”
