During the third T20I match held at Sharjah Cricket Stadium on November 1, Afghanistan skipper Rashid Khan had a tense altercation on the pitch with Ryan Burl, a batsman for Zimbabwe. Nevertheless, an exchange that initially seemed confrontational turned surprisingly lighthearted when Rashid blew a flying kiss toward his rival, quickly adding a dose of amusement to the fixture.
This confrontation was triggered when Burl tried executing a reverse sweep off Rashid’s delivery, failing to connect and getting hit straight on his front pad. Although the leg-spinner made a strong appeal for leg-before-wicket, the match official rejected it. Just a couple of balls afterward, both cricketers started trading verbal jabs, prompting the officials on duty to step between them. Shortly after, Rashid decided to defuse the rising tension by blowing a kiss toward Burl.
Verbal altercation between Rashid Khan and Ryan Burl
The conflict escalated roughly three balls after the rejected LBW request. Words were exchanged between Rashid and Burl, which led official Ahmad Shah Pakteen to physically step in to separate the duo. Tempers flared once more right after the over concluded, requiring the secondary umpire, Farooq Khan, to step in as well.
In the end, Rashid opted for a humorous approach by blowing a kiss in Burl’s direction. That sudden gesture popped out during the high-stakes moment and rapidly emerged as one of the game’s major viral highlights. Burl’s innings came to a close shortly after when he was dismissed for 30 runs off 29 balls, including five hits to the fence. He was ultimately pinned LBW by Abdollah Ahmadzai, concluding the match as the top run-getter for Zimbabwe.

Five-wicket haul by Noor Ahmad seals 3-0 series sweep for Afghanistan
Even though the mid-pitch argument grabbed headlines, Afghanistan thoroughly controlled the game with their bowling performance. Zimbabwe found themselves in deep trouble early on, losing three wickets with merely 13 runs on the board before Burl tried to rebuild the innings. Nevertheless, wickets kept falling regularly for the visiting side, leading to them being skittled out for 79 in 14.3 overs. Noor Ahmad spearheaded the bowling effort with impressive figures of 5/13, marking his maiden five-wicket performance in T20 international cricket.
For his part, Rashid completed two overs giving away only seven runs, though he remained wicketless. Afghanistan comfortably chased down the modest 80-run target, scoring 80/3 in just 8.1 overs. Ibrahim Zadran anchored the run chase with an unbeaten 25, guiding the home team to a comfortable seven-wicket win and ensuring a 3-0 series sweep.
