The Barcelona club have communicated that national team icon Lamine Yamal has committed to a fresh agreement with the organization, valid through the summer of 2031. Furthermore, the emerging talent, who is now 18, will proudly don the celebrated number 10 jersey from the 2025-26 season onward, inheriting the legacy of iconic players such as Ronaldinho and Lionel Messi

The club made the official announcement regarding the revised jersey number and extended contract shortly after Yamal reached the age of 18. While terms had been settled, the formal signing awaited his milestone birthday.

“Barcelona’s prized No. 10 jersey will be adorned by Lamine Yamal in the forthcoming season. It was on the very day he formalized his contract extension until 2031 that the player, having recently celebrated his 18th birthday, was presented with the emblematic shirt by club president Joan Laporta,” the team revealed.

Reports indicate that Lamine Yamal’s six-year contract includes a base compensation of €15 million per season, with prospective enhancements reaching €20 million through performance-based incentives.

In their declaration, Barcelona stated that “this represents the most recent advancement in the ascent of the La Masia prodigy to the pinnacle of the sport. In accepting a number of such significant importance in the realm of global football, especially within the context of Barca, Lamine is once again demonstrating his unwavering ability to handle immense responsibility. He assumes the shirt number vacated by Ansu Fati‘s transfer to AS Monaco, anticipating another thrilling season as Barça defends its domestic triple crown comprised of the Liga, Copa, and Supercopa titles”.

His Accomplishments Thus Far

Yamal’s inaugural appearance occurred in April 2023, and he has subsequently amassed 115 appearances for the squad. Moreover, he has tallied 25 goals and contributed 34 assists to his colleagues throughout his initial two years with the club, clinching two La Liga titles, one Copa del Rey, one Spanish Super Cup, and one UEFA Euro title representing the Spanish national team. Beyond the mere enumeration of trophies and statistics, his impact has been immediate and profound, evolving into a linchpin player initially under Xavi‘s guidance and subsequently under Hansi Flick’s leadership at Barcelona, propelling the team towards triumphs through a series of remarkable displays. At the age of 18, the prospect of him securing a Ballon d’Or seems increasingly plausible.
