On Tuesday, Richardson Hitchins publicly disputed Jamaine Ortiz’s assertion that their planned January 31 fight was cancelled due to Hitchins’ alleged failure to sign the agreement.
Via social media, Hitchins disclosed that he had executed his part of the contract the previous week and was continuing his preparations as though the match would proceed.
“My agreement to face this individual was finalized last week,” Hitchins posted on X. “I’m uncertain what information his representatives are conveying to him. I have maintained my readiness, and I am prepared to compete immediately.”
Previously, Ortiz stated that Hitchins refused to append his signature, thereby jeopardizing the contest’s certainty. This pairing was disclosed earlier in the current month, subsequent to the collapse of an alternative arrangement with Keyshawn Davis during their discussions.
By Tuesday, neither the event’s organizers, broadcasting networks, nor regulatory associations had verified the submission of both contractual agreements. The IBF has refrained from releasing any official declaration regarding the disagreement.
This development has heightened the persistent ambiguity surrounding Hitchins’ upcoming match, with observers remarking on recent alterations to his anticipated opponents in the 140-pound category. Currently, the January 31 schedule is still posted, yet the contest lacks formal re-endorsement.
