Despite experiencing a loss, Mboko, whose ranking was outside the top 300 at the outset of the 2025 season, is set to ascend into the top 10, having secured the highest number of match victories on the women’s tour throughout the current season.
She conceded that the result was “not the outcome I desired,” yet also remarked: “There are numerous positive takeaways.”
The next WTA 1,000 competition is scheduled to begin in Doha on Sunday, but will proceed without Aryna Sabalenka and Iga Swiatek, who are the world’s top-ranked female players.
Sabalenka, who has been absent from play since her loss in last month’s Australian Open final to Elena Rybakina, stated she was “not feeling completely well,” while Swiatek, a player who reached the quarter-finals in Doha, indicated a “change in her competition calendar.”
