Mbilli: Crawford-Canelo “Boring” Compared To My Fight

Christian Mbilli holds the conviction that his bout against Lester Martinez provided greater spectacle and enjoyment than other contests on the September fight lineup, even surpassing the primary event featuring Terence Crawford and Canelo Alvarez.

Mbilli engaged Martinez in a fiercely contested, ten-round battle earlier that evening, culminating in a majority draw, and he indicated that the subsequent public feedback affirmed his belief that spectators considered their encounter to be the most memorable display of skill on the program.

“After my fight, all the fight was very boring. Many people texted me after the fight, ‘like after your fight, all the fight was very boring,” said Mbilli to Ring Magazine about his undercard fight against Lester Martinez being more entertaining than the Canelo-Crawford fight last September. “Many, many people have called me, like the best fight was your fight, and after it was very boring.

“I’m happy because the big show was my fight.”

During a conversation with The Ring, Mbilli commented on the feedback following his clash with Martinez. The undefeated super middleweight contender expressed his satisfaction with the high-octane encounter, despite his initial desire for a definitive win.

“I’m very happy. I’m very proud to this fight. Of course, in the beginning, I want the victory, but I’m very happy to be in this fight. This fight was spectacular,” said Mbilli about his fighting Canelo next.

“I promise many people that it will be the fight of the night.”

Furthermore, Mbilli noted that Martinez presented precisely the challenging opponent he had anticipated stepping into the ring.

“Martinez is a very good fighter. He’s powerful. He have a good chin. He was exactly the fight I was waiting for,” said Mbilli.
