Badgers Land Top LB Target

On Sunday, the Wisconsin Badgers secured two commitments, first a four-star wide receiver named Jai Jones, and later a three-star linebacker, Nathan Jones.

Hailing from Arizona, Nathan Jones competed for Desert Edge during the current year, experiencing significant progress in his recruitment efforts this spring. After receiving initial offers from institutions such as Arizona and Kansas State in January, he subsequently acquired additional offers from programs including Baylor, Florida State, and UNC.

Despite extending a formal offer to Jones in May, the Badgers rapidly advanced their position in his recruitment, distinguishing themselves as the sole institution to host an official visit from the three-star linebacker.

Following his official visit held this weekend, Jones ultimately decided to finalize his commitment to the Badgers, thereby increasing their total number of pledges for the 2027 class to 15.

He now represents the second linebacker in this recruiting cycle, accompanying three-star linebacker Keaton Wollan, who had recently committed to Wisconsin and also attended events this past weekend.

For the past two weeks, predictions had placed Jones with the Badgers, indicating Wisconsin’s status as his leading choice. Prior to the weekend, six uncommitted recruits were scheduled to visit the campus, and predictions favored the Badgers to secure three of them.

Jai Jones, whose commitment occurred earlier on the same day, was not among that specific group of visiting targets, unlike Nathan Jones. The focus now shifts to whether Wisconsin can secure commitments from some of the other outstanding prospects within that group, thus concluding a particularly eventful weekend in Madison.
