Due to an ongoing recovery from a wrist injury suffered during the Formula 1 summer shutdown, Isack Hadjar is set to miss this weekend’s Italian Grand Prix at Monza. Consequently, Liam Lawson is poised to fill in for him at Red Bull once more, while Yuki Tsunoda returns to his seat in the Racing Bulls machinery.
The French driver fractured his wrist during a training session with boxing gloves over the summer holidays, which kept him out of action for the Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort from August 21 to 23. In his absence, Racing Bulls regular Lawson stepped up to drive the Red Bull RB22, while backup driver Tsunoda was brought back to pilot Lawson’s empty VCARB 03 alongside newcomer Arvid Lindblad.
Although Red Bull remained optimistic that Hadjar could make his racing comeback for the upcoming round at Monza, they ultimately decided against exposing the 22-year-old to unnecessary hazards while he heals.

Both organizations under the Red Bull umbrella have verified that their driver roster will remain identical for the Monza event.
“Liam is scheduled to partner Max during the Italian GP in Monza, as Isack’s recovery shows positive development,” Red Bull announced in an official release. “The organization is tracking his healing process with care, ensuring he does not rush his comeback prematurely, and extends their best wishes for a fast recovery.”
Both substitute drivers performed admirably during their stints in Zandvoort, where Lawson secured a seventh-place finish in his Red Bull after starting eighth. Meanwhile, Tsunoda narrowly missed out on a top-ten finish, ending up in eleventh, though both racers demonstrated qualifying speeds that were highly competitive with their teammates.
Additionally, fellow backup driver Ayumu Iwasa is slated to take over Verstappen’s car for the first practice session, satisfying one of the four rookie run requirements mandated for the squad this year.
