Sidelined by a foot issue, Pittsburgh Steelers wideout Michael Pittman Jr. won’t be participating in this Sunday’s matchup with the New England Patriots.
Due to the seven-year veteran being sidelined, first-year second-round selection Germie Bernard is expected to see increased opportunities playing next to lead receiver DK Metcalf and Roman Wilson.
Even though they secured a 20-13 victory over the Atlanta Falcons during last Sunday’s kickoff game, the Steelers’ offense, guided by Aaron Rodgers, missed out on several major opportunities, such as a dropped pass by Metcalf that likely would have gained significant yardage.

In the win, Pittman paced the squad by catching three passes for 58 yards. He sat out Thursday’s practice session to nurse his injury.
Furthermore, Metcalf had his arm contacted while trying to secure a deep throw in the end zone, yet the officials chose not to call pass interference against Atlanta. Conversely, the powerful receiver was penalized twice for offensive pass interference. Wilson seemed to secure a deep pass from Rodgers initially, but lost possession upon contacting the turf.
“We just have to move past it,” Metcalf commented regarding the missteps earlier in the week. “The main objective of taking the field was to win, which we did, and we had players step to the plate, such as Pitt and Pat (Freiermuth), along with the offensive line during the final four minutes. In rushing scenarios, we managed to run the football successfully and deplete the remaining time. Now, we are turning our attention to next week’s game against the Patriots.”
