Saquon Barkley Status: Eagles Injury Update for Monday

Saquon Barkley is designated as questionable for the game on Monday night against the Dallas Cowboys, though his last practice session provided an optimistic indication.

The Eagles running back participated fully on Saturday after being limited during practice on Thursday and Friday due to a hamstring issue. Barkley has been absent from Philadelphia’s last two games, which left the offense without its primary running back during defeats against Jacksonville and Carolina.

NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo had earlier indicated that Barkley was expected to play against Dallas. His full participation bolsters that likelihood, but the questionable tag means his status has yet to be conclusively decided.

Barkley has accumulated 182 rushing yards on 36 carries over four games, posting an average of 5.1 yards per rush. He has also made four receptions for eight yards and has yet to find the end zone this season. His return would provide Philadelphia with additional support for Tanner McKee, especially with DeVonta Smith and Dontayvion Wicks both out. Dameon Pierce managed 12 carries for 35 yards and a touchdown in last week’s matchup against Carolina.

The inactive list for Monday, which will be released about 90 minutes prior to kickoff, will determine whether Barkley will take the field. Regardless, even if he plays, the extent of his usage remains an open question following his absence for two games.
