Momcilovic withdrawing from NBA Draft

Reports from Jeff Borzello and Pete Thamel, citing discussions with his representatives, indicate that Milan Momcilovic will continue his collegiate basketball career but will not be rejoining the team in Ames.

This announcement brings mixed feelings for supporters of Iowa State. The player recognized as the program’s top marksman will still be active in collegiate hoops next season, though not sporting the Cardinal and Gold colors.

His Tenure and Achievements at Ames

His statistical contributions highlight his impact. Across 102 appearances during his time as a Cyclone, Momcilovic recorded an average of 13.2 points and 3.2 rebounds, achieving a 42.8 percent success rate from beyond the arc. He served as a starter for three seasons, contributing to the most successful three-year span in the program’s history.

His third season was particularly remarkable. During this period, Momcilovic put up averages of 17 points, 3.1 rebounds, and one assist per contest, hitting 50.6 percent of his field goals. He also topped the nation in three-point accuracy, converting 48.7 percent of his 7.5 attempts per game. His total of 136 successful three-pointers established a new program benchmark for a single season.

Recognized as a Second Team All-Big 12 honoree in the 2025-26 academic year, Momcilovic initially joined the team as a four-star prospect from Pewaukee, Wisconsin, having selected Iowa State over several other prominent institutions like Virginia, UCLA, and Michigan State. He departs as one of the most proficient shooters in the team’s annals, and arguably the most skilled shooter in collegiate basketball during the most recent season.
