Simone Biles, the celebrated Olympic gymnast with seven gold medals, disclosed via her Instagram account on Saturday that she had been admitted to the hospital a few days prior.
Although Biles refrained from elaborating, she did convey, “Coming close to death was not something I anticipated.”
The athlete further stated that this incident ranked among the most terrifying moments she had ever faced. A contributing factor to this fear was her spouse, Jonathan Owens, being away in Indianapolis for training sessions.
Owens, a safety in the National Football League, inked a twelve-month contract with the Colts during the most recent offseason.
In her social media update, Biles mentioned that she has spent the current week recuperating in bed, but affirmed her intention to disclose the full details “at some point.” Biles has not yet provided any information regarding the reason for her ordeal.
Biles secured four medals at the Paris Olympics in 2024. Despite being 29 years of age, she has not dismissed the possibility of participating in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
Looking beyond future events, Biles’ current priority is her ongoing recuperation. She shared an Instagram story on Saturday from her home bed, captioned, “I will remain here,” featuring one of her canine companions positioned on each side.
