According to an official announcement, Josh Jacobs, a running back for the Green Bay Packers, was taken into custody in northern Wisconsin on Tuesday and subsequently detained at the Brown County Jail.
On May 23, 2026, the Hobart-Lawrence Police Department responded to a call concerning a disturbance in which Jacobs was implicated.
The athlete was apprehended on Tuesday, facing five different allegations. Law enforcement stated that the inquiry remains active and has not concluded.
The Hobart-Lawrence Police Department recorded the following accusations against Jacobs:
-
Assault – Domestic Violence
-
Vandalism to Property – Domestic Violence
-
Disruptive Behavior – Domestic Violence
-
Choking and Obstructing Breathing
Official jail documentation indicates that the charge of choking and obstructing breathing constitutes a serious felony assault, whereas the remaining charges are classified as lesser offenses.
David Chesnoff and Richard Schonfeld, legal representatives for Jacobs, issued a public declaration asserting that their client refutes every accusation made against him. They additionally requested “impartiality and discretion as the legal proceedings unfold.”
The National Football League issued a declaration regarding the situation, stating that the organization “is informed of the account and has communicated with the team.”
The Packers football team also provided a statement, indicating, “Given that this is an active legal matter, we will refrain from providing additional commentary.”
This is not the first time the running back has faced arrest. In January 2021, he was detained after a solo vehicle collision in Las Vegas, suspected of impaired driving. Following subsequent inquiries, he was released from detention on the same day after being treated for injuries from the crash at a nearby medical facility.
Subsequent to that event, he confronted a “minor charge related to failing to reduce speed or exercise proper caution in specific situations,” though the matter was resolved upon his payment of a monetary penalty.
Jacobs’ professional career in the National Football League spans seven years. His professional journey commenced with the Las Vegas Raiders, where he played for five seasons.
The athlete became a free agent following the conclusion of the 2023 NFL season and subsequently entered into a four-year agreement worth $48 million with the Packers. He has completed the second year of this contract.
