Cotterill Aims for Goal Surge After First Strike – Yahoo Sports

Midfielder Joel Cotterill is eager to add many more goals for St Johnstone following the conclusion of his goal drought.

The Welsh player netted Saints’ second goal as they rallied from behind twice to secure a 2-2 draw against Kilmarnock last weekend.

“Improving in that area is something I recognize I need to focus on, so there was no better sensation than scoring in a match like that,” he remarked.

“This is an aspect I aim to significantly enhance. Currently, one major element missing from my play is scoring goals.

“I believe I often find myself in advantageous positions, but it’s an area where I must excel. The performance from last weekend serves as a solid foundation for me to continue and accumulate as many goals as I can.”

Cotterill is set to try to increase his goal count when they face Dundee at home this Saturday.

The 22-year-old had a loan spell at Dens Park during the latter part of last season after leaving Swansea City, followed by making a permanent transfer to St Johnstone over the summer.

He added: “My time at Dundee has certainly been a valuable step in my career progression, and being here now feels just right; I’ve gained a strong sense of what the league entails.

“Spending 14 years at Swansea made it my entire experience.

“You come to a point when you recognize it’s time for advancement, and I felt that this year was ideal for me, with St Johnstone being the perfect club for me to join. It truly is a perfect fit.”
