Both Arthur Fils and Andrey Rublev staged comebacks from being a set down to advance to the Barcelona Open final.
The Russian tennis player, Rublev, secured his spot in his first final of the year – and the 29th of his professional career – by overcoming Hamad Medjedovic of Serbia with a scoreline of 3-6, 6-2, 6-2.
Rublev, who had been defeated in his most recent four semi-final appearances, will be striving to earn his initial championship victory since he bested Jack Draper from Britain in the Qatar Open final in February 2025.
The Frenchman, Fils, defeated Spain’s Rafael Jodar, who had earlier eliminated Britain’s Cameron Norrie in the quarter-final round, with results of 3-6, 6-3, 6-2.
