Dillon Danis is keeping the rivalry alive following a chaotic weekend of combat sports that concluded with a stunning defeat for Mike Perry.
The two were slated to face one another at Saturday’s Duel Arena 1 event. After Danis announced on his social channels that a physical issue with his arm forced him to withdraw, Perry fired back with sharp criticism aimed at the former Bellator competitor. Stepping in on short notice, Brandon Jenkins seized the moment by securing an unexpected first-round TKO over Perry.
It did not take Danis long to take to X to poke fun at the results.
“Low-level matchup,” Danis posted.
A joint dislocation sustained by Perry during the match brought about the stoppage. According to Jenkins, the injury was a direct consequence of an elbow he connected with, an opinion he shared on his Instagram Stories.
“People are focusing on the shoulder, but they are ignoring the clean elbow strike I delivered that likely triggered the dislocation,” remarked Jenkins.
While Jenkins is willing to offer Perry a second chance, he is also interested in a matchup with a legendary fighter from Stockton (according to Bloody Elbow).
“I am targeting Nate Diaz, but I would be happy to do a rematch at welterweight if Mike desires,” Jenkins noted.
For the time being, Perry will need to prioritize his recovery, having clearly experienced intense pain when his joint popped out. The defeat serves as a major setback for “Platinum,” who had previously secured a dominant TKO victory against Nate Diaz at the MVP MMA 1 event, which featured the Ronda Rousey vs. Gina Carano headliner.
