Iconic Munster figure Simon Zebo feels that the squad will head north to Belfast with high spirits next weekend, having overcome multiple injuries to secure a 26-22 victory over the Bulls at Thomond Park on Saturday evening.

In an outstanding Player of the Match performance during his debut competitive start for the team, fly-half Charlie O’Shea crossed the line once in each half, while Diarmuid Kilgallen and Alex Kendellen also scored to complement his double in this URC encounter.

The home side controlled most of the ball and field position, and Zebo expressed great satisfaction with the way the youthful roster secured the win—marking their initial success of the campaign following an opening-round 26-20 defeat to Glasgow at home.

In his post-match comments on Premier Sports, Zebo remarked that the maximum-point win will provide a significant boost for Munster as they prepare for next Saturday’s clash with Ulster in Belfast, right before their Champions Cup home fixture against Racing 92.

“This is the ideal position to be in before an interprovincial clash. Having that self-belief is crucial, particularly when playing away against Ulster, a team we have shared incredibly intense contests with in recent seasons,” Zebo expressed.

“I expect Munster to feel optimistic about their prospects, even though traveling there presents a major challenge. Still, they have plenty of positive momentum to draw from.

Game Summary

“The Bulls brought a highly talented lineup, so defeating them with such an inexperienced roster—while delivering an incredibly disciplined and smart performance in the second period regarding territorial control and tactical execution—was impressive.

“It was an excellent display, showing a massive improvement over last week’s outing.”

The sole blemish on the evening’s performance was a leg injury sustained by prop Michael Milne just eight minutes into the contest.
