Viktor Gyokeres wants to leave with daily exit talks ongoing: report

Viktor Gyokeres, the Arsenal standout, is reportedly angling for a departure merely twelve months following his arrival at the North London club.

This revelation comes from a sensational update out of Spain, suggesting the Swedish forward maintains constant contact to orchestrate a move from Arsenal to Barcelona, a side keen on recruiting him.

During his debut campaign, Gyokeres found the back of the net 21 times across 56 outings in all tournaments, assisting Arsenal in securing the Premier League trophy and advancing to the Champions League showpiece, even if he failed to convince every critic.

As per reporting from Spanish agency Cope, the frontman is eager to depart N5, prompting his representative to initiate talks with Barcelona’s director of football, Deco, although the executive remains hesitant for the time being.

While Gyokeres led the line to secure Arsenal’s first top-flight championship in over two decades, boss Mikel Arteta frequently selected Kai Havertz for high-stakes fixtures, favoring the German international’s exceptional hold-up ability.

The Swedish international has faced scrutiny over his complete skill set; despite a strong goalscoring return in England, his effectiveness against last term’s top-ten clubs was inconsistent, prompting Arteta to target Julian Alvarez as a viable alternative.

Nevertheless, claims that the 28-year-old forward is dissatisfied contradict his recent public statements, which were published by Fotbollskanalen earlier in the close season.

“It is certainly nice to know other teams are tracking me, but I am incredibly happy with life at Arsenal,” Gyokeres stated, further noting, “Following the campaign we just completed, my outlook is entirely positive.”

According to sources at FourFourTwo, Gyokeres is not at the top of the list of players expected to be sold before the transfer deadline, particularly with teammate Gabriel Jesus also catching the eye of Barcelona.

Thus far, Gyokeres has embraced the internal rivalry with Havertz, especially since the German missed significant portions of the championship run due to physical setbacks.

Last year, a report from The Athletic revealed that Gyokeres’ representative surrendered his commission to help seal a transfer away from Sporting, where the forward registered 97 goals across 102 matches in Portugal.

It seems very improbable that he is actively trying to force a move right now, regardless of the occasional difficulties he experienced during his first year.

The player carries a valuation of €65m, as stated by Transfermarkt, and Arsenal are scheduled to play Coventry City once top-flight football resumes.
